Wednesday and early Thursday along the country's border with Gaza, killing three people and wounding several others, medical sources told CNN. Early Thursday, an Israeli warplane shot missiles at a social club in northern Gaza, killing two people and wounding 20, including women and children, medical sources said.
On Wednesday, an air strike on a tunnel between Rafa and Egypt left three people seriously wounded, the sources said.
The Israel Defense Forces said that an Israeli warplane hit an Islamic Jihad militant from the city of Rafa who was involved in smuggling weapons "and sought the execution of terrorist activity in Sinai."
The victim had operated with Gaza elements who had recently tried to carry out an attack in Sinai, on Israel's border with Egypt, it added.
Hamas security and medical sources reported a strike in Rafa in which one man was killed and three others were wounded, two of them critically, when their Jeep was struck.
The four men were members of Islamic Jihad, sources with the Palestinian militant group said.
In response, Islamic Jihad said Wednesday night that its members had fired about 10 rockets from Gaza into southern Israel. There was no immediate report of casualties.
The IDF said in a news release that it fired Wednesday night at a "terrorist squad" that had fired rockets into southern Israel. "A hit was confirmed," it said.
On Wednesday morning, the IDF reported that two people who had fired rockets at Israel from separate locations in northern Gaza were hit moments afterward by an Israeli aircraft.
The flare-up between Israel and Palestinians in Gaza came following an attack carried out by Palestinian militants last Thursday near the southern city of Eilat, which killed eight Israelis. Another Israeli was killed by a rocket attack near the city of Beer Sheva in southern Israel.
"The IDF will not tolerate any attempt to harm Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers, and will respond with determination to any attempt to use terror against the State of Israel," the IDF news release said.

he slate of images from Warner Bros. last week, I was surprised that there wasn't a single shot from J. Edgar. As one of their biggest films due out this Winter, it was a bit curious that they didn't choose to promote it with at least a single shot. Well, today Warner Bros. rectified the shortcoming with two shots of Leonardo DiCaprio in character as J. Edgar Hoover in the Clint Eastwood directed movie about the first director of the FBI. Sadly, these shots don't provide much insight into the highly anticipated film, especially whether the story will dip into the alleged sordid personal life of J. Edgar.
Now, a first look of Leonardo DiCaprio in drag would have certainly set the Internets aflame with speculation and wonder. Instead, we are left to wonder until November 9 as to what part, if any, Hoover's personal life will play into the movie.

Warner Bros. has had a busy week releasing images from their comic book properties, so it comes as no surprise that they would end the week with another one, right? To be honest, I was a bit shocked that they didn't hold this one back for a while longer, but after pictures were leaked from the set of The Dark Knight Rises of what appears to be a stunt woman riding the Batpod, the cat was out of the bag - literally.
Today, via the movie's official site, Warner Bros. released the first official picture of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle in The Dark Knight Rises. What's most interesting about the picture is that it features Hathaway riding the Batpod.
Obviously, I'm not a huge comics guy and Tim is a loyal Marvelite, so I'll offer my meager speculation on this image, but I implore you to educate me if you're a more devoted fan. I do know that the relationship between Batman and Catwoman is complicated and not as black and white as say the Joker's relationship with Batman.
There have been hints and downright admissions for romantic feelings between the two and with the death of Rachel Dawes in The Dark Knight, it seems like a good time to explore that side of their adversarial relationship. So that begs the question, is Selina Kyle simply borrowing her "boyfriend's" ride or did she steal the Batpod?
Most people on the 'Net are jumping to the conclusion that this is a shot of Catwoman and nitpicking over the costume, but I'm not completely sold. Warner Bros. has named the file "selina_kyle.jpg" and while yes, Anne Hathaway is wearing a leather body suit, wouldn't she also simply wear a similar outfit to ride a motorcycle/Batpod?
What is missing from the costume could also be telling. There's no sign of Catwoman's tell-tale cat ears. Now, that is far from damning as we all know that Christopher Nolan has played with convention in this series of films to create his own take on the Rougues' looks. The goggles are a nice touch and as I understand it, they are a key element of one of Catwoman's latest incarnations in the comics.

The leaked photos online show Selina Kyle (most likely a stunt woman) riding the Batpod down steps in front of a building like a courthouse or bank. Regardless, it seems that The Dark Knight Rises is going to focus on the cat burglar angle of Catwoman.

'Harold & Kumar' crushes it in first 'Christmas' trailer

It's August and it's sweltering outside. No matter where you live, I'm going to guess that the last thing from your mind right now is Christmas.
Allow me to change that.
Below, I present the first trailer from A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas thanks to Yahoo! Movies and you'll be singing Christmas carols before you know it. Or should I say A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas.
Yes, in case you missed it last year, we reported how this seemingly odd fit for 3D was indeed filming in 3D. Anyone who has been around this site for awhile can attest that I despise 3D with a passion and in the 14 months since this movie started filming the whole 3D craze has calmed down considerably, but I'm actually pretty stoked to see this in 3D.
I will let you experience the trailer for yourself and not spoil anything, but I've seen it five times and counting now and it just gets better. Sure, there's plenty of "3D gags" in there, but that's the point. They actually point out the absurdity of it at one point and I'm sure that the actual movie will contain even more.
Obviously John Cho and Kal Penn reprise their iconic characters from the first two movies, but the real centerpiece of the trailer is Neil Patrick Harris, who also returns to the series playing himself as he did in the previous two movies. This is particularly challenging as he has always played a machismo, womanizing version of himself and since the filming of Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo, NPH's homosexuality became widespread public knowledge.
So, the question was would Harold & Kumar address it or simply let it remain the elephant in the room? I won't spoil it, but the trailer does a hilarious job of answering that question.

Miley Cyrus has gone on record in support of gay rights in the past, but this time she went with a decidedly more permanent statement. Last Friday, the singer tweeted a photo of her new tattoo, an equal sign on her right ringer finger, with the caption “All LOVE is equal.” In a year where the “It Gets Better” videos have served as a very formal, very scripted (and, yes, very powerful) beacon of the gay rights landscape, Cyrus’s subtle nod is a quirky (and dare I even say refreshing?) political affirmation. If nothing else, she is, in her own way, breathing new life into the debate with the kind of nonchalance that only an 18-year-old can. Unfortunately for Miss Miley, announcing her new art didn’t turn out to be all peace, love, and rainbows. 
Shortly after Cyrus showed off her ink, one of her followers, named @MileyCyrusLuver, tried to engage the pop star in a theology debate by citing Bible verses against homosexuality. Cyrus kept her rebuttal short: “Where does it say in the bible to judge others? Oh right. It doesn’t. GOD is the only judge honey.” Alas, the same can’t be said of her strong-minded fans. Over the weekend, a full-scale Twitter battle erupted between her fans, who reportedly went so far as to Tweet death threats against @MileyCyrusLuver. Eventually, Cyrus had to intervene in support of her antagonist, “Dude everyone lay off @MileyCyrusLuver Love u! Everyone is entitled 2 opinions! ‘if u don’t stand 4 something you’ll fall for anything.’”
